In his new role, Michael Ryan aims to strengthen Nefco’s strategy and position as risk capital provider for Nordic companies.
Nefco, the Nordic Green Bank, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Ryan as Vice President, Head of Finance, effective from 15 August 2024. Ryan’s extensive experience in various roles, industries and locations will further strengthen Nefco’s position as risk capital provider for Nordic small and medium-sized companies.
Prior to joining Nefco, Ryan served as Head of Accounting at the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), where he played a pivotal role in developing the Accounting and Controlling units. Ryan brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, with previous stints at Munksjö in Stockholm, Stora Enso in Helsinki, and PwC in Helsinki, Sydney and Rotterdam.
Trond Moe, Managing Director of Nefco, expressed his excitement about Ryan joining the team, “Michael’s extensive experience in the Nordics and strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to grow our Nordic SME business.” Ryan’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Nefco, as the organisation works with risk capital and focuses on thorough financial analysis. “We can see that the demand for risk capital is continuing to rise, thus strengthening our financial and risk analysis capabilities is key to achieving our financial and strategic goals.”
In his capacity as Head of Finance, Ryan will oversee all financial operations and support Nefco’s strategic initiatives. His primary focus will be on enhancing the controlling function and strengthening the ‘second line of defence’, including risk management, reporting and controlling.
Ryan is eager to contribute to Nefco’s activities, “I am looking forward to supporting Nefco on its growth path. I am familiar with Nefco, to some extent, from my previous role at NIB, and I believe that my varied experience in banking, corporate and the Big Four will bring interesting perspectives to this role.”
