Nefco’s Ethics and Compliance team receives international recognition for its work on compliance.
Nefco is pleased to announce that its Ethics and Compliance team has been named as the Winner of the Small Compliance Team of the Year (less than five members) in the Financial Services category at the ICA Compliance Awards 2024. The ICA Compliance Awards celebrates the outstanding achievements, collaboration, and innovation of the compliance and financial crime prevention teams.
The comprehensive assessment process involved a panel of independent judges featuring highly influential and respectful figures within the compliance and financial crime prevention community. Nefco was awarded the distinguished accolade, standing out amongst a very impressive shortlist.
On 27 June 2024, more than 500 guests attended the ICA Compliance Awards ceremony at the Park Plaza, Westminster, London. The evening celebrated the very best of the compliance and financial crime prevention communities. The member of Nefco’s sanctions panel and EBRD’s Chief Compliance Officer Jelena Madir received the award on behalf of Nefco at the award ceremony.
Nefco’s three-member Ethics and Compliance team was highlighted as a winner, demonstrating their focus on excellence, conscientious, hard work and the positive impact that the team has made within the financial services sector. Under high pressure in challenging and rapidly evolving operating and policy environments, the team has consistently demonstrated drive and commitment in ensuring Nefco funds are used for their intended purposes in accordance with Nefco’s high ethical standards.
Over the past year, Nefco’s Ethics and Compliance team has contributed to enabling Nefco to finance the scale-up of Nordic SMEs, to support off-grid energy and clean cooking projects in sub-Saharan Africa, and to rebuild critical infrastructure in Ukraine. While doing so, the team has furthered strengthened a culture of ethics inside Nefco and in its global activities.
Linda Lundqvist, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, Nefco commented: “Compliance is an exciting area of work, constantly developing and requiring a broad range of skills, especially when working in the types of projects Nefco finances. I am immensely proud of my team for their dedication, hard work and knowledge. I also want to express my appreciation to our colleagues in Nefco supporting and actively contributing to healthy compliance culture in the organisation.”
Pekka Dare, President, ICA, said: “I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the finalists of the ICA Compliance Awards 2024. Your outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication to excellence in the compliance and financial crime prevention industry highlight your professionalism and expertise. It is through your innovative approaches that we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.”
