Loans and equity

Scaling up Nordic green solutions on global markets.

How is Nefco facilitating green investments?

Nefco provides loans or equity-type funding to Nordic companies for green investments in support of growth on global markets.

Our objective is to facilitate investments in green solutions and technologies with global scaling potential. We support the demonstration of Nordic green solutions on international markets identified as having high potential for market growth, international expansion, and with a high probability of realisation.

Financing is primarily aimed at Nordic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for investments for international growth, such as machinery, equipment, technology or internal resources needed for production, sales, business development and scale-up of operations. The financing provided should contribute to one or more objectives in the EU Taxonomy.

Who can apply for Nefco funding?

Nordic SMEs and mid-cap companies that provide environmentally sustainable products or services, have at least three years of operational history and are planning an international investment can apply for funding.

The investments to be financed shall normally be located outside Nefco’s owner countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) or directly aim at international scale-up. Investments within the Nordic region can be considered for investments with high demonstration value and international scale-up potential.

Nefco requires borrowers to meet reasonable financial criteria, but the primary focus is on the positive environmental impacts of the investment. In addition to the environmental aspects, we always examine the technical feasibility and financial profitability of all financed investments.
